New treatments have been added to the programme at Harmony Addictions Clinic & Holistic Retreat, hence the addition of Holistic Retreat to our name.

We are now incorporating holistic healing, where clients are treated according to one of the Twelve Step Programme’s vital philosophies – namely that the physical, mental and spiritual components of each addict’s individual life are mutually connected.

This threefold disease concept of addiction is now manifested in all aspects of our treatment model, most recently with the introduction of professionals who practice Full Body Massage, Indian Head Massage, Hot Stone Therapy, Reconnective Healing, Reflexology, Acupuncture and so forth.

These treatments are known for their holistic healing qualities, particularly when it comes to detoxing, anger release, stress management and much more.

In combination with our group therapy, individual counselling, lectures, spiritual classes, Twelve Step meetings, written work, drumming, hiking, dance classes and now various holistic treatments, Harmony highlights the importance of finding wholeness through acknowledging, honouring and healing all your parts; mind, body and spirit.

As part of the holistic healing offered at Harmony Addictions Clinic & Holistic Retreat, some of the following treatments are now on offer:

Reflexology
This is the ancient art of massaging reflex points on certain areas of the body yo release blockages such as stress, pain, fatigue and toxins. It allows lymph, blood and nerve impulses to flow freely through unobstructed channels to associated organs and glands, balancing and harmonising them. Often people unconsciously scratch their heads thus instinctively healing themselves.

Hot Stone Massage
Hot stone massage is a variation on classic massage therapy. Heated smooth, flat stones are placed on key points on the body. The massage therapist may also hold the stones and use them to massage certain areas of the body.

The use of hot stones for healing dates back to ancient times, but it wasn’t until Arizona massage therapist, Mary Nelson, introduced her hot stone massage technique, called LaStone Therapy, that the use of hot stones for massage caught on.

Authentic Indian Massage
Champissage, also known as an Indian head massage, is a trademarked term for an alternative medicine massage therapy. In champissage, the head, neck and face are massaged with the purpose of manipulating energy channels.

The goal is to clear blocks in these energy channels that cause a build-up of negative energy that are purported to cause ailments.

The belief is when the energy does not flow properly, negative energy builds up, causing common ailments, including stress, aches, baldness or hair loss.

Champissage is practiced all over Europe.

Deep Tissue Massage
Deep tissue massage is a type of massage aimed at the deeper tissue structures of the muscle and fascia, also called connective tissue.

Deep tissue massage uses many of the same movements and techniques as Swedish massage, but the pressure will generally be more intense.

It is also a more focused type of massage, as the therapist works to release chronic muscle tension or knots.

Reconnective Healing
Reconnective Healing is often a life-changing experience, allowing for the healing of the body, mind, and spirit. These concretely felt energies are initiated by a Reconnective Healing Practitioner at the start of your session, and continue working with you long after your visit has ended. Through your participation in these sessions, you will be forever changed, operating at, and attuned to, a higher frequency than ever before.

Acupuncture
Dr Keith Daries, a registered Chinese Medicine Practitioner, administers acupuncture to clients.

Acupuncture is the insertion of fine, sterile, stainless steel needles into special points of the body in order to activate the body’s self-rectifying processes.

The points must be specially selected by a Doctor of Chinese medicine or acupuncturist in a clinic according to a Differentiation by Chinese Medical Syndrome for satisfactory results to be obtained.

The selection will vary according to your changing condition each time you come for treatment. As your treatment performs its work. so you change, and as you change, so your treatment must change too.

Biofeedback
Biofeedback is the process of becoming aware of various physiological functions using instruments that provide information on the activity of those same systems, with a goal of being able to manipulate them at will.

Processes that can be controlled include brainwaves, muscle tone, skin conductance, heart rate and pain perception.

Biofeedback may be used to improve health or performance, and the physiological changes often occur in conjunction with changes to thoughts, emotions, and behaviour. Eventually, these changes can be maintained without the use of extra equipment.

Biofeedback has been found effective for the treatment of toxins, addictions, headaches and migraines.

I am a specialized Massage and Body Therapist, my Company is called R.U.B. I am interested in giving up some of my time to volunteer to massage at your facility. I come from a background where alcohol and drugs played a destructive part in both mine and my childrens lives (with an alcoholic Mother and ex Husband) and know the benefits that massage can bring into lives of those going through detox and healing.
My contact number is 082 571 3364 should you wish to make use of my services I would be happy to oblige. I am based in Kirstenhof.
    Kind regards
